[Video] Document Your Life – January 2014

January 2014

So far, my reading goals are off to a great start. I’ve read my first Harry Potter book and I’ve completed a month end video capturing the events that occurred in January. This was a wonderful month filled with a visit to The Social to see the reveal of Elaine Lui’s upcoming memoir, Listen to the Squawking Chicken, ice fishing and a book launch to celebrate Kathryn Kuitenbrouwer’s All the Broken Things (amazing turn out by the way). Oh and of course, I read seven books, so that kept me nice and busy. Watch the video below and be sure to let me know if you’re enjoying this type of media. I’m having a lot of fun doing it, so I really hope you do!

*The concept of the Document Your Life videos was created by Lauren Hannah. Her story, videos and a description of the project can be found here.

The Cover of Elaine Lui’s Listen to the Squawking Chicken Has Been Revealed

Today I had the opportunity to visit the set of The Social, a new Canadian talk series starring Melissa Grelo (@melissagrelo), Cynthia Loyst (@cynthialoyst), Traci Melchor (@stayfabulous), and Lainey Lui (@LaineyGossip). If you’re not watching The Social, you really need to get with the program. These women are fun and feisty!

I’ve been an avid visitor of Lainey Gossip‘s website for awhile, so I can’t tell you how thrilled I was to learn that Lainey was writing a memoir. On her site, she often references her Mother, as ‘the squawking chicken’ for squawking/teaching her to be the woman she is today. Their relationship has become a pillar in Lainey’s life, so her upcoming book Listen to the Squawking Chicken (April 1, 2014) is not only a glimpse at their Mother/Daughter relationship, but it’s filled with helpful advice that everyone will be able to apply to their day to day life.

To say I was excited to get to be on the set when she revealed her baby, oops, book would be an understatement. Not only is it really fun to get to watch someone reveal their book cover to their friends, but to do it on national television takes it to a whole other level. It was so neat to get to be a part of the fun! So here you have it friends, the cover of Listen to the Squawking Chicken:

Oh and here is the shot I took when it was revealed on the show:

I was very fortunate to have an opportunity to read an early edition and I can say in full disclosure that this is an honest, intelligent and a witty memoir. It has great lessons about parenting, but it’s also filled with great inspiration for women of any age. So if you haven’t already, go to your calendar, find April 1st and write, “Go to the bookstore and pick up Listen to Squawking Chicken
