If you’re like me (and the rest of the population) you’re a fan of the hit show Glee! It’s filled with singing, dancing, romance and heartbreak – what more could you want from a television show?
It only makes sense that an unofficial guide would soon surface – let me introduce, Evie Parker’s, 100% Gleek guide. It’s filled with a character description of everyone that’s a regular on the show, as well as the “sometimes shown” cast like Principal Figgins and the unforgettable Suzy Pepper. The unofficial guide also gives a description of the actors and actresses who play the main cast. Some fun facts about the cast that I discovered:
– Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) has been friends with Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina Cohen-Chang) since they were eight years old.
– Kevin McHale (Artie Abrams) used to be in the boy band NLT
– Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson) worked as a cab driver in Canada before he got his big break
I’m not opposed to reading a good unofficial guide if it provides a legitimate inside look to a television show and I think that Evie Parker has done her homework when it comes to all things Glee. She writes out the episode guide in great detail, each episode getting a two page spread giving a list of all the songs that were performed and the highlights of that particular episode. She also provides pictures of the original artists (example: Neil Diamond and The Supremes) that performed the song that was then recreated by the New Directions Glee club.
Not only is it filled with character descriptions and episode guides, it’s got a lot of fun elements included as well. Things such as Principal Figgins ground rules for McKinley High, a McKinley slam page where some of the nastiest things said are listed and my personal favorite, the look alikes page, where each main character’s picture is shown next to a celebrity. The obvious choices are selected like comparing Rachel Berry to Idina Menzel (who played her mother on the show) but I’m going to make you go pick up the novel to see the other comparisons and it’s worth checking out because some of the comparisons are uncanny.
%100 Gleek is 93 page colorful guide to the hit show Glee and all “Gleeks” should get their hands on a copy if you want an insider look to what the kids of McKinley High experience on a day-to-day basis. It’s also a great introduction to the show if you have yet to jump on the Glee band wagon. Just to give you a preview of my favorite Glee moment, please watch the video below and be sure to pick up this unofficial guide ASAP!
